As we embark on collective bargaining
efforts, we need to build our capacity to bring new educators into our Union. VEA hosted a ‘Membershipalooza’ on Saturday, February 6 from 9AM-Noon. The session
helped locals prepare for a successful Spring membership campaign.
During the
event, the
VEA
Membership Cadre challenged leaders to participate in the
21 Day Challenge.
The
Challenge ends on February 28.
What:
1. Take time for self-care in three areas: drinking water; exercising; and adequate sleep.
2. Allocate 15 minutes each day to reach out to worksite reps in your local union.
How: Success is Scheduled
• Schedule time for self-care. Be intentional with establishing and committing to daily routines.
• Establish weekly goals that will get you to 100% outreach goal to worksite reps.
• Schedule and commit to 15 minutes each day to reach out to worksite reps.
• Partner with a union sister or brother to keep you motivated and encouraged.
• Keep track of your progress.
• Share your challenge results.
Personal Outreach can be done in one of four ways:
1. Face to Face – maybe fall of 2021 or in 2022 (or now, only if socially distanced)
2. Phone Call -- direct, keep in mind most people screen their calls
3. Text Message -- 95% of text messages are read in the first 3
minutes
4. Social Media – private chat group
Don’t Email -- only 20-30% of all emails are ever opened
